metformin and food anxiety
Post Body

Hi everyone idk if this is the right place to post this, I will move it if not.

I have had pre diabetes for about 2 years now (5.7 a1c and 'normal' is 5.6 or under per kaiser). I recently switched doctors and I asked for weightloss medication and since I am pre diabetic he prescribed me metformin to manage my pre diabetes and its off label use is weightloss so thats what I have now.

The first week you only take one dose then the 2nd week you take 2 doses, etc until you are at 4 doses per day.

The first week I did not notice literally any changes but now I am nearing the end of week two and I cant eat. Like I dont feel hungry at all (I think that is the medication working) but I know I still need to eat but I cant and it is making me so stressed out so I am wondering like is this normal? Are other people having the same side effects? What has your experience been like on metformin? Did you force yourself to eat? I am making myself eat like the mini salad kits from costco but thats like less than 500 cal/day so I am wondering if this is normal and I am overreacting or what to do.

Thank you,

Jasmine
