In currently rewatching "The Predator" and noticed something.

Going through and re-watching the predator I noticed that the fugitive yautja left his gauntlet and helmet right inside the escape pod. I understand that he wasn't there specifically for hunting but to give the humans yautja tech. I was just curious as to why the fugitive yautja did leave his gear? After all he was indeed being chased, so just why not keep the gear on and stay prepared? And if it was to signify that he wasn't supposed to be a threat he kind of failed on that one....
