For me:
Get rid of the farts. The thing is I don't mind fart humor, but a) it's jarring, and b) they're not even creative with it, it's just farts for the sake of it.
Replace Preston and Calvin with them and just make them blue and yellow oh that would be too easy.
Use them to be more antagonistic and bullies to the rangers in season 1. The student president episode worked partially because they made things worse for the rangers and sorta helped out the monster's plan in the long run.
And cut down on the cartoon effects. If you want the monsters to be more threatening, instead of using them to put Victor and Monty in comedic situations, use Victor's hubris against him and put him in the hospital a few times. Or if a ranger's doubting themselves, let them try and take on a monster with their big stick energy, only to nearly get killed until their girlfriend comes to help them.
Spread out their more likable moments in season 2. That recording episode kinda punished Victor for no real reason when he didn't do anything wrong, and I will say him powering the cities electricity was pretty impressive in Calvin's....divisive focus episode to least.
Cut down on the cheating for Victor and make him more of a competitive threat so the rangers feel both a human & ranger connection wanting to improve (i.e. Hayley's endeavors) actually let Monty be a intellectual rival to Sarah. Stereotypes can work if you execute them to the maximum potential.
You all?
I honestly wish they did Bulk and Skulls thing in season 2 where they tried to uncover the rangers identities.
