Need advice on potentially not being to pay rent on time

Post Body

I started a new job on June 8th, and due to the timing of the pay cycle, I will likely not receive my first pay check until June 30th when accounting for mail time. However, as this is a new job, I should assume that there is chance it may take longer.

I currently have $400 to my name and my rent payment on July 1st is for $585, and so if my check does not come in time, I would not be able to make the payment.

I was thinking that as opposed to paying via a cashiers check (like I did last month), I could pay with a personal check and hope that it gives me enough time to receive the pay check in the event it does not come on time. Does this seem reasonable given my situation. and if not, are there any ways I can make around $200 outside of my job? I would not be able to ask for an advance as this is a state funded position.
