Holiday (and other) Assistance Here on Reddit
Post Body

Hello! I’ve spent a lot of time browsing here over the years and have learned a lot. I’d like to take a minute to profusely thank anyone who has ever posted any auto care threads as those have helped me out a lot in the past.

As we near the holidays and it starts getting chilly I’d like to make people aware of some subs right here on reddit that might be able to help you with anything from food to warm clothes to Christmas presents for your kids.

Trying to provide a nice holiday season for kids can be stressful. Of course there are some irl options such as Toys for Tots and Salvation Army, but there are two absolutely amazing subs right here on reddit with ppl not just willing to help, but eager to help.

The two subs above are very similar in how they operate. Go to the sub and get registered (there is tons of info in the FAQ’s on how to do that, and mods are there to help as well). Once you are registered you can post an amazon wishlist for your kids and then other redditors can browse the lists and purchase something off it and have it sent to you. Last year on more than one occasion I witnessed random redditors pick ppl’s Amazon wishlists and buy every single item off it for their kids. Every. Single. Item. Beyond the wishlists there are a lot of contests and raffles that occur. So last year I offered to send fully stuffed stockings to four families. I had a little contest and put the entries into a random generator and the four winners got overflowing stuffed stockings for their kids. Other ppl send out Christmas decorations, movie nights, dolls, video games, Christmas cookie kits etc…. The people sending the presents are excited to do it, so there is no need for any shame. It is important you go get registered ASAP because the shopping and giving starts early. I’ll probably have a raffle up next week for Gingerbread house kits to send to a family so they can make some gingerbread houses together as a family. Go. Subscribe. Register. Participate.

If you’re lonely around the holidays and just want some holiday cheer in your mailbox stop on by

https://www.reddit.com/r/RandomActsofCards/ and get some holiday cards.

Now for some non-holiday themed subs. Need a warm winter jacket? Some gloves? Someone to proof read a resume? Homework help? Assistance fixing something that is broken? Or just someone to talk to? Stop on by assistance where you can get assistance with tons of stuff.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Assistance/

Need some shampoo? Toilet paper, deodorant, toothpaste? Stop on over at basic needs.

And the food pantries of reddit. I’ll be helping send some food on these subs around the holidays, these subs operate all year around, but money can be especially tight around the holidays so stop on over if you need some food for you or your family.

I’m not a mod at any of these subs (I’m quite active in a cards and last year in the giving at the Christmas ones, but not a mod) so this isn’t simply self promotion. These subs all exist for a reason and the ppl on the other side of the subs are happy to help if you need it. I hope this post helps at least a few of you as we near a cold and financially stressful part of the year.
