I can't/won't go into specific detail. I'm just a couple of hundred dollars a month shy of the FPL thresholds used to determine eligibility for several programs. There are probably ways I could make a few hundred a month, which would help with some things. But that would cut me out of those programs. That could cost me a great deal. I'd almost have to make $1000 month to make up the difference and that is not possible.
Those programs are what are keeping me afloat and allowing some increase in savings to cover unexpected costs (rainy day fund) that programs will no cover.
A vehicle breakdown for example can cost a few thousand dollars and there are no assistance plans for that. You either pay it your self, or you go without transportation. That means loss of independence.
A recent medical event would have potentially wiped everything out if not for Medicaid for example. But now, I've lost eligibility for full Medicaid and only have partial coverage..
Not looking for answers since there really aren't any.
