If you live in the USA, then you should definitely take advantage of the public library. Public libraries are typically located in cities, and the farther you live from the city, the harder it is to get library benefits.
At the public library, you can:
- read books for free
- borrow books for a limited amount of time
- play in the children's area
- attend events
- look for information
- use the computers for job-searching, word-processing, email-checking, web-surfing, gaming for the kids
- get homework help
- use the public restroom
- drink water from the water fountain
- ask the librarian for help
- big meeting rooms
- small study rooms
- big study rooms
The library also has a lot of digital resources:
- movies/shows/dramas/documentaries
- music
- children's books
- e-books
- downloadable audiobooks
- research stuff
- subject librarians
- and more
All of this depends on YOUR library, though. Some public libraries are very well-financed, and they will provide a ton of resources for library patrons. Some public libraries are not so well-financed, and they will provide fewer resources. Libraries generally serve the public by providing information, education and entertainment. And the best part is . . . EVERYTHING IS FREE!!!
