Hi/Ola Reddit Portugal,

Gostava de meter este post em Portugues, mas o meu Portgues escrevedo fica mal depois de 12 anos! Firstly, I hope you're well if you are reading this, and thank you for taking the time.

I'm 27, I finished my PhD in theoretical/computational chemistry last year, and for the last year or so, I've been working as a lecturer/assistant professor at a UK university. When I was 9, me and my parents moved to Portugal - we lived near Caldas da Rainha, specifically in Obidos. I went to a Portuguese speaking school and was fortunate enough to become fluent (and I now consider myself semi-fluent because I don't speak it every day). I would love to return to living in Portugal - I loved the people and my friends, the slower pace of life, the beautiful coastlines and in general, I think it's a much nicer place to live than the UK. My partner is also a secondary school teacher teacher in the UK, but she doesn't speak Portuguese.

What sort of job opportunities exist for somebody like me in the country? What are my chances of earning a semi-decent living in Portugal, and which types of job could I do? I don't want to be mega-rich, I just want to slow down my pace of life and enjoy the wonderful country again.
