Dopamine depletion from actual sex
Post Body

Hi folks, I haven't posted here in a while because I've been pretty much clean for months now (not perfect, but close enough to be totally happy, biochemically balanced, and guilt-free), and my real life sex life with my wife is better than ever. I may post more about my journey in some other posts, but for now I have a question that isn't directly related to porn, but has to do with something many people in here are familiar with – dopamine depletion.

The main reason I got interested in going porn free in the first place was because the dopamine depletion from frequent PMO was making me depressed, lazy, and generally miserable.

As I mentioned, my real life sex life is going very well right now, and I'm sometimes having "real sex" as frequently as I was previously masturbating. I've found that if I orgasm more than twice in 24 hours, I'll start getting the same symptoms of low motivation, low energy, and mood swings that I got from porn use. Is this normal?

I hear stories of people who routinely have sex 3-4 times a day. Are they going through this as well and not talking about it, or is there something inherently different about real sex vs. PMO that should avoid this (but isn't the case for me for some reason). Are people having sex this frequently taking lots of cold showers and working out like crazy to regulate their dopamine? What's the trick to having lots of sex without feeling miserable?
