99 Coleman Taos battery/power questions

Thanks to some great advice on this forum I bought this 99 Coleman Taos a few months ago. Ripped out the floor, put new floor and molding down, replaced the couch cushions, and painted. Took it camping last week and it was so comfortable!!! As a tent camper who’s now older and has kids, it really is the best.

I’m having some power problems though, and again as a tent camper I’m used to no power so I’m trying to not go too crazy with fancy stuff… I’m talking power to charge a phone and power a fan. I bought a new battery and a new fuse box for the battery cable. Hooked it up, and nothing. There’s probably so many places that there could be an issue… I’m also interested in going the solar route. Should I return the battery I got and get one made for solar? I bought the exact same kind that was in it when I bought it (marine/RV deep cycle). Hooking up solar requires a battery and an inverter (besides the panels), right?

I’m hoping to get some ideas from the great people on this forum 😊

It’s a kill switch - kills the power when the galley is folded down

Thank you all! I think you all helped me figure out the problem. That little switch that can only be triggered when the galley down is broken…

One commenter suggested a battery with an inverter, which I think is the route I’m going to go. Seems a battery and an inverter will do for now, and adding solar later would be a piece of cake
