Wood pool deck covering

We have a pool deck about 30x25 and it’s made out of 2x6 treated lumber. We either need to paint it or some kind of coating. We are thinking that maybe we could put some kind of artificial grass on it? I don’t know if anyone has done that and what the outcome of it was. Any ideas would be appreciated.
