Hello! My new rental came with a surprise pond. We love it already, but we have no idea what to do with it and how to keep it healthy.
It’s not very big, probably 2x2 (in L shape). It is overgrown with the green algae floating on top, we haven’t seen the bottom properly because I didn’t want to disturb it. I heard that having algae is good for ponds but this seems to be a lot of algae.
There are tadpoles, a couple of frogs, and LOTS of snails. Are the snails good? Are the snails bad?? Our goal is to keep it wildlife friendly, but not a health hazard
There’s no filter that we’ve seen so far.
Any direction is much appreciated, we are feeling overwhelmed
