My husband and I went to a sex positive event, and I knew my friend with benefits, Lover, was planning to go with another woman he’s been seeing. Naturally, I informed both men of the chance of running into each other, and they were both ok with being introduced to each other, so all was good.

As we were about to leave, I saw Lover at the other end of the room and went over to say hi and got introduced to his date for the night, Ana, a very sweet and friendly woman I immediately connected with. Husband came over, he and Lover shook hands and said hi and exchanged some pleasantries showing each other respect for the situation. All good.

Then Lover had to sort out some practicalities, and Husband exchanged some pleasantries with Ana. Next thing I know, they are quite clearly hitting it off, flirting away and having a real connection. Lover comes back, we look at them, look at each other, laugh, and go, “well, this is awkward”.

Husband and I didn’t hang around for long after that as we had to go home. But on the way back, husband stopped in his tracks and goes “I think I matched with her last year! We were supposed to meet but something came up and it just petered out.”

I messaged this and a few other things to Lover, who was OK with it all, and things have progressed from there.

Anyway, long story short:

Ana and I have connected on the apps. Husband has set up a one-on-one date with her. Lover is suggesting all four of us go out for a dinner. And there has been talks of possibly doing more.

So yeah, my husband meeting me Lover didn’t go quite as expected. It became much more interesting.
