Introducing Ourselves: Hello there! I am a 29 year old woman (cis, bi, polyam) and my husband is about to be 32 (cis, straight-ish, polyam). We live on a beautiful piece of property in the breathtaking Texas Hill Country. We don't have children yet, and are in the process of building ourselves a house. I work as a financial bookkeeper, and manage the farm. He works as a landscaper in the next town over. We work off-site jobs to afford to homestead the way we want to, but there is a plan in the works for me to become stay-at-home, to work my job and work the farm. We are also 420 friendly.
Our Situation: This property has been in my family for 45 years, and is currently inhabited by my paternal grandmother and both of my parents. We have a half-acre kitchen garden, the beginnings of an orchard, two wells, a two-story barn, and nearly 21 acres that we love. I've accepted the responsibility of being the steward of the land and its inhabitants, and it really is my heart and soul. Along with a few dogs and cats (and a turtle), we have geese and ducks and chickens and turkeys! The nearest town to us is quite small, I graduated from the public school there. We have a few small stores, a post office, a public school, a couple of restaurants, a beautiful native plant nursery, and a volunteer fire department.
Seeking: An individual or couple with a love and desire to put together a copasetic homestead. Ideally a friendship, could also be romantic if it works out in such a way. I dream of a pair of houses or buildings maybe, connected by a shared outdoor living space, with children and critters playing in the yard. My husband enjoys the animals and knows they make me happy, but the responsibility and infrastructure has mainly been mine. I'd love to have someone to share my excitement with! Someone to work in the garden and play with the birds with me, someone to help prepare for goats and bees and meat chickens and rabbits (and more???). Someone who loves to cook and bake, I love foraging and making plant medicines. I sincerely hope this isn't as far fetched as I feel it sounds.
Qualifications: Experience helps, but is not necessary. Passion for working and learning encouraged! We're not overly religious nor political, but we won't tolerate hate or exclusionary perspectives. Experience caring for elderly and/or disabled individuals would be awesome, though not necessary.
I'm open to answering any questions, I understand this to be a process rather than something immediate, but I also figure that if I didn't express my desires, how would anyone ever know what we were looking for?
