I have a question about closed FFM triads. Is it me or do they seem more like polygamy over polyamory?

I’ve been polyam for 12 years and in a very polyam saturated city. I think it’s great everyone has their own style of polyamory, however I feel when I see a people searching for a closed triad, it irks me to think they throw it under the polyamory umbrella instead of polygamy. Thoughts? Am I caring too much that I think people are abusing the term for their own selfishness?
