I have two people I connect with in ENM outside of my primary relationship/NP. One is someone who is outright poly, and we both refer to each other as partners. The other is a FWB.
I had this realization last night that if you take away the labels, these two connections are fundamentally the same. Both are people I love and care for. In both situations, we hang out, go out, and occasionally hook up. I guess the main difference is that in the poly relationship, when we greet each other, we hug and kiss a bit more, and she introduces me to people as her partner. I don't have that in the FWB situation.
I don't know. Maybe these relationships are more similar than I initially thought. Or maybe the poly relationship is more casual, or the FWB situation is a bit more.
I don't know. Just some thoughts.
What do you think? Is the line between FWB and poly blurry?
