How do you go about dealing with a meta who you cannot go parallel with, but has regularly caused you pain/issues. I’ve already placed a boundary that I will not spend alone time with this meta. But the meta has regularly said things that cause issues and hurt for me (there were couples privilege things, things that lacked basic empathy, inappropriate topics about my body, miscommunication issues). Meta is likely not doing it maliciously even though to me it feels that way a lot. I think a lot of it is meta doesn’t think before saying things. Then now it’s become clear she’s unwilling to acknowledge she makes errors. She’s unwilling to work on herself. Just yesterday I was triggered by a comment she made to a mutual friend regarding how as long as you’re yourself and honest and owning it you’re perfect and I believe she truly sees herself as perfect, she owns that she hurts me and doesn’t ever apologize though she’s aware. I just don’t know what to do at this point and I do think it’s affecting my relationship with my partner. . Before anyone just says confront her when she says these things, I’m neurodivergent and have complex trauma issues regarding confrontation so I tend to freeze and struggle to process in the moment. I’m working on that in therapy but I know that’s a long term thing cause trauma is hard so what can I do in the meantime. . Also we can’t go fully parallel because I have commitments in a same place she attends and unless I walked away from a three year commitment I can’t just not see her anymore.
