Did you know that mountain lion, cougar, puma and panther refer to the same animal?

I didn’t realize that all these names referred to the same animal, and that that animal had subspecies. Curious if you guys knew that. Here’s a quote from the link for those that don’t want to open it.

“Mountain lion, puma, cougar, panther—this cat is known by more names than just about any other mammal!”
