I am 14, and I hate my parents for what they have done to this once almost kind of great country. What they have done, is more along the lines of what they haven't; they just sat by while the Republicrats become more and more powerful and people start to slowly loose their rights that generations before them died for.

My mom lives in some sort of fantasy land where powerful people are there because they earned their way there, that's not how it is. At least 99% of anyone with any power got there through cheating, lying and breaking the law. She believes that anyone who did do something wrong will simply get punished in Hell. She doesn’t believe that there are huge injustices in the world; she believes women have equal rights. What bothers me the most is that I think she once saw it, but was too afraid to stand up to these things so she just lives under the illusion that all is fine and we're in a great safe country. What bothers me even more is everyone else in her generation seems to have done the same thing, no one cares any more who dictates them, and those who do want an end to this want someone else to rise up for them.

But my biggest gripe is that I can’t do anything about it, I can’t stop it from getting any worse. I don’t get to try and run for office and try and stop this from getting any worse when I’m 25. I feel like I’m forced to watch this Earth get slowly destroyed while people sit back and enjoy the view because it will stay fine until they’re dead.

Notice how I never talked about my dad? That’s because my parents are divorced and I barely see him, he also watched the world burn. Aside from that I’m pissed because the divorce rate in this country is so Fucking high, there are almost more divorces than marriages. I feel that well over half this country gets married to some random person to show some sort of social status, like “hey look, I did nothing with my life but I’m married so I’m just like everyone else. And I raised my kids in my faith so I got to heaven, right?”

This is what killed our county, the mindset of its “someone else’s problem” or “that is so terrible that could never happen”. Anyone who can make a difference chooses not to, and anyone who wants to know they can’t. My parent’s generation saw the world start to burn, yet they just watched.
