How the emergence of the Tea Party has ruined politics in America
Post Body

Greetings and good evening, for if you are in health, then I am in health. I would like to share some thoughts that I have been having recently about politics. One of the things that my father always stressed was to never vote by party, but based upon the candidate. To me, it seems that so many Americans vote based upon a donkey or elephant.

For example, while watching some of the primaries that have been taking place, I couldn't help but be blown away by the differentiation between the republican candidates. The term "conservative" really has lost it's definition. Essentially, I believe that the Tea Party has almost crippled the entire Republican party, and that is a crying shame. I mean this because of how extreme these people are. For instance, I don't support Mitt Romney whatsoever, but he is constantly badgered about his medical policies that he installed in Massachusetts, solely because of their liberal leanings. THIS is scary as hell , especially because Massachusetts prospered under his leadership. Ron Paul is a prime example of how this Republican party is truly losing it's identity...so many of the things he says are completely the opposite of what his counterparts suggest doing. This differentiation is often contributed to his passion for Liberty, yet a passion for liberty and universal rights **can't be applied when standing against free healthcare, or abortion, etc.

Most importantly, the Republicans have been forced into a frenzy in which their ideals have to line up with that of a extremist Christian. I myself am a Catholic, but the separation of Church and State is the concrete that molded this countries principles. The Tea Party absolutely shits ALL OVER this notion. Now, if you are a conservative, you have to be against abortion, gay marriage, and everything else that these extremely religious Tea-Party people believe in. It has ruined politics, and ultimately will serve as a stigma to the Republican Party.

I guess what scares me the most is the idea that a Republican won't be able to muster enough support if he doesn't have some extremist beliefs. To me, this means that our nation will basque in it's ignorance and denial of human rights for much longer. This may mean that the Republican party will never be able to change; it will never be able to improve itself. It won't think of new ideas or ideals, it will just stand for the same old bullshit. Also, it means that if a Republican approach to economics is more fitting for our economy, it's going to have to come with a bigoted person. What happens if a free market is what America needs, but nobody will take it because we have a dick head like Rick Santorum who wants to do it? In 100 years, we will look at the way that Gays were treated and we will find it hard to believe that a government could do that to people. Don't you people find it ridiculous to read a history book and see what African Americans had to go through (not trying to say that Homosexuals experience the same struggles) just to obtain equal treatment? Doesn't it make your skin fucking crawl to know that the greatest nation in the history of the world refuses to treat all of it's citizens equally? That our nation refuses to learn from the past? That the Conservatives claim to stick by the principles that this nation was founded upon, yet they stand for the opposite?

Thanks for hearing what I have to say. Rock on.
