Multiple students at the school have independently described him as an outspoken conservative. He was always the lone person in civics class defending conservative stances, he wore hunting gear to school, hung out with kids who wore MAGA hats, registered Republican as soon as he turned 18, and died wearing a YouTube gun channel shirt.
That may not explain his motive, but it means he was not hanging out in liberal communities when he was radicalized.
