\rant And the same dipshits who support the gun laws(and/or lack of) will be the first to talk about how scary and violent cities are without seeing any correlation at all. Even supposing tough on crime policies worked, we currently have a gun violence problem. Just some fucking background checks and waiting periods would be a huge fucking step in the right direction.
The fact that I can (and have) buy a shotgun to go trap shooting and sold it at another store the same day or buy a rifle in cash out of the back of someone's trunk in a Starbuck's parking lot is a huge fucking problem.
And the pro-limitless-guns people will turn around and say something about illegally obtained guns for criminals blah blah blah. This is the only place I've ever been where I've overheard staff in multiple suburban gun stores talking about a shooting and commenting that they "hope it wasn't one of ours," because that happens frequently enough for it to be a concern.
A shitload of this also falls on the ATF itself and gun manufacturers circumventing the legal definition of a short barreled rifle to sell AR and AK "pistols." I see people carrying them. I hear the shots at night. I can fucking count the number of times they go off. Those things are a problem that is cruising under the radar because they require understanding the technicalities of gun laws more than the average person cares to do.
