The False Equivalence Between The ‘Far Right’ And The ‘Hard Left’
Comments

There are dangers in both extremes. Right extremism is easier to pick out because it’s so blatantly bad.

Far left is more insidious because it will do terrible things in the name of helping and protecting to anyone who opposes them.

There are better, thoughtful, caring and pragmatic ways of doing things than relying on any extremism. Neither extremes likely see themselves in an extremist way.

It’s very much like supporting a particular religion in many ways. There is the same Us vs. Them attitude. Not listening to contrasting views or concerns. No empathy for those thinking the “wrong way”. Social and economic ostracism. Both sides attempting to censor and silence the other in the name of some higher truth or ideal.

I abandoned narrow-minded religious ideology and ideas decades ago only to see it rising up again in new ways and in non-religious contexts.
