Feeling muscle soreness between ribs, is this normal?

Post Body

I just finished my 5th week of class yesterday and now the muscles between my ribs (intercostals) feel sore. I feel the soreness when I flex my abs really hard and push my pelvis forward a bit, and also when I inhale forcefully. It only spans the front of my ribs, not the sides. It also is not painful and doesn't jolt, like due to strain, it feels like mild muscle soreness. I only feel it when I actively flex.

I'm wondering if this is common or if this means I'm pushing myself too hard or not doing certain moves correctly. Any insight would be helpful! I tried googling it but it only came up with intercostal strain, not soreness.
