Practicing freestyle..

How can I practice free styling better? Sometimes I try to but it’s like I forget every move I’ve ever practiced. Or I just can’t find my flow and get into the music. Like sometimes I’d rather just try to learn a choreo and practice that or practice an old choreo from a class. But i wanna get better and more fluid with my freestyle. I have a performance coming up and I’d like to have a few things that i know im going to do but freestyle/crowd interaction for a lot of it.
