Iāve been doing pole 1-2 times a week for a couple months now. I can feel myself getting a lot stronger in moves that even 2-3 weeks ago were very difficult for me. I also do some strength training at the gym to compliment my pole training and I also work a physical job.
Last night at class my instructor told myself and a couple other girls that she thinks we are ready to move up a level (from beginner to inversions). Iām having this impostor syndrome feeling because Iām by far the newest to the class and although I have improved A LOT, I feel a bit weird advancing levels already. My question to all of you lovely polers is, how did you know when you were ready to advance, apart from instructor guidance? Did you take a lower and upper level class for a little while during the ātransitionā process? And did you experience any impostor like feelings?
EDIT: a lot of you wrote back to me similar responses so rather than right everyone back the same thing I decided to just edit this post with an update. You all are so encouraging and supportive I canāt even believe it! A lot of you mentioned how impostor syndrome is quite real with pole and that students usually fear moving up a level. This was so validating to hear! I think what I have decided to do is attend 1-2 more classes at my current level and make sure I can properly do all the checklist moves to move up to the next level, and then I will make an attempt at the upper level class. Thank you all so much!
