October 24th marks United Nations' day. In addition, the UN celebrates its 70th anniversary today.
This event was initiated and realised entirely by /u/globalis. The UN is not a country and usually we only celebrate national days, but as it's its 70th anniversary we can make an exception.
A big thanks to /u/globalis!
The background of the header shows the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
And in the mouseover you see:
- USA/Mexico: There are migration issues between both countries.
- Germany/Greece/Turkey/Serbia: Greece cannot into pay debts to Germany, Greece dislikes Turkey and Serbia wants to remove kebab (represented by Turkey).
- Argentina/UK: Conflict between both nations for the sovereignity over Malvinas/Falklands islands.
- United Nations: kinda frustrated due to its incapacity to avoid big wars.
- Ukraine/Russia: Ukraine wants to can into EU, something that Russia dislikes.
- Israel/Palestine/Iran: Israel is hated by several muslim countries mainly because doesn't recognize Palestine as a country.
- North Korea/South Korea: Both nations dislike each other.
- India/China: Both countries have a rivalry over what is "the boss" in Asia.
As headgear we sport the blue helmets of the UN peacekeepers.
