Post Body

Hi All,

I've been trying to improve my post-flop play a touch, since i'm a little too aggressive. I understand the purpose of c-bets, but I'm struggling to come up with a strategy as to which hands to bet and which to check. My main question comes down to this:

Should I be using a strategy based on the hand itself or how the board connects with my range? some reading I have seen in several places bases it on actual hand strength and goes something like this:

  1. Strong Hands - bet
  2. Marginal Hands - check/call
  3. Bluffs with equity - bet
  4. Trash - check/fold

I used this briefly in the past and it helped me with selection, but it did feel like i was a little face up when checking. I'd have to fold by the river if someone was super aggressive against a check.

However, when I moved away from it and started to think about how my range hit a flop (e.g raising in early position and the flop is 2 high cards 1 low), I found myself c-betting way too often.

Essentially, I want to go away and do some work on my strategy, but I'm a little unsure where to start. If it's a case of "when the flop hits your range", then how often should I be c-betting on a A-high flop, K-high etc etc. Is this something anyone can help me with?

Thanks in advance
