So I’ve played kitchen-table poker for years but only started taking it a bit more serious a couple of years ago (and when I say a bit, I mean a bit - kid and mortgage are tying)!
Anyhow, this year I started to track my winnings a little and after 6 months was up £700. I had spiked a couple of small MTTs (€10 buyins top) and messed around with cash games and spin and go’s (€5 buy in).
However, I’ve just spanked about £250 in a month. Because of my limited free time, I end up playing more spin and go’s than MTT. When I do go to MTTs it’s hard to get into the right mindset. Cash games have always felt a little less interesting to me and I end up playing poorly there as a result. I’ve mostly stopped playing cash.
So my question is… Am I a bad player that got lucky to be up Or Am I an ok player experiencing a downswing Or Was I playing well and now I’m not, and can’t see the difference!
I guess what I’m really asking is if anyone else has experienced this and how do you go about correcting it. Should I be studying more? Should I be focusing on just 1 version of poker? Should I be taking a break and if so, how long is suitable!?
I see plenty of posts here with people having swings and so im sure im not the only one. Im just in a spot where im a little lost on how to progress and need some pointers!
Side note - any good spin and go content out there?
