Unpopular Opinion: showing your cards first is +EV
Post Body

In the hijack, playing $2/$5, I raise to $15 with QhJh. The small blind three bets me to $30. I call

($60 after rake) Ks Qd 4h, I call his $30 bet.

($120)Turn is Jd, and he bets $50. I raise to $180 and tank-calls.

($480) river is a DISASTER 4 of diamonds. Now, my two pair is counterfeited to any king. Diamonds gets there. And this guy isn’t the sort to make a big fold. I give up. Check-check.

I turn over my QJ, and he has this disgusted look. He shows his neighbor his cards and mucks.

“Why did you muck?” His neighbor asks. He had AK.

People fold winning hands EVERY DAY. Honestly, the only reason $2/$5 is a profitable game is because so many terrible people elect to play it

Y’all are such babies about showing your hand at showdown. Do you really think that your opponents are so sophisticated as to discover your exploitable leaks from one hand?

Just flip em over. You should be excited at the chance that your opponents muck a winner. Happens every day in the poker room, and most days you never find out
