How To Balance Range on Flop of JhTh8d ??

When I say balance your range on this flop of JhTh8d, I mean which hands would you check and which hands would you bet?
For me I would:
bet {79, 9Q, JQh, JJ}
check {88, TT, JT, J8, T8, Axs, Kxs, Jx top pair hands, Tx 2nd pair hands}
I am wondering if my betting range is too narrow and maybe I should increase the number of hands based on position and action? What is the best way to go about balancing your range?
Additional info: You are on the Button and it has folded around to you. You have 50BB and you open a wide range of hands. A tough reg calls your from the bb and he also has 50bb.
