New GPS drift restrictions...?

I might be wrong but basically, I think Niantic may have made it more difficult to ramp up walking km from GPS drift. Normally I get a fair amount of drift from sitting at my desk at work and I can rack up km on eggs, but today, while I am still drifting as much as normal, I've only gotten ~0.3 km for the day so far when I'd normally already have 2 or 3 km or so.
So I'm wondering if there's any indication that Niantic finally put the kebash on the amount of distance you can get from GPS drifting?
