Posted this to Facebook regarding the Pokemon hate going around. Steal if you want.
Post Body

I was seeing a small chunk of my friends on Facebook posting things about being tired of hearing about Pokemon Go. Eventually it got on my nerves. So I posted this. Feel free to copy and use.

"Okay, hear this out for the love it's intended for. (To society at large, not any people in specific as I've seen multiple people do this.)

We are all nerds. Star Trek. Game of Thrones. Doctor Who. Shakespeare. Football. Whatever your obsession is. There is a current nerd fandom that a lot of people are enjoying. So much so that it's surpassing Twitter in active daily users.

Not everyone is a fan. Of course not. That's okay. But. This is Facebook. A place where you see what your friends are up to. Not Reddit (a place where you see only what You're interested in). And what your friends are into, is apparently a game.

Not a fan? Cool. They weren't a fan when you were spoiling GoT or complaining for days about Batman vs Superman or rooting for your Primary candidate or posting your 99th Harry Potter "10 things you missed from the books" or whatever. But like good friends they waited for the conversation in this particular party to drift back to their interests. Now it's your turn.

But here's the real problem, when you're on a public forum where a lot of people are talking about a thing and you stand up and shout out "I'm tired of this conversation stop talking about it" you are committing Nerd Sin Number 1.

Because, as fellow enthusiasts (of whatever) you know that most of our childhoods were spent with people calling us nerds, telling us what we're interested in is stupid, and telling us to shut up.

That is what you are doing. You are telling people, either directly or passive aggressively, to shut up about the thing that they are interested in. And as fellow nerds, that's not okay. "But," you say, "be reasonable. It's been Non-Stop for far too long."

It has been less than a week. The conversation will slowly move back to a thing you are interested in. Promise. Until then, let us all remember that social media is an open forum where people talk about what they are interested in and not a closed discussion about only our own interests.

That has been my soapbox. Love you all. Hugs and Kisses. See ya all when Magical Beasts opens up.
