Poke-kilometres?

Is it just me, or are the kilometres that PGO calculates about 2200 metres each? I'm on an iPhone 6S, and both Watch and Runkeeper show that one real life kilometre is equal to less than half a kilometre in Pokemon Go. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
