Created an alternate community to what is currently going to be offered in Pokémon Go (Red, Blue and Yellow respectably).
Venusaur is one of the most badass and loved Pokémon yet is often overlooked. Figured if I can't get it in the game, a google community would come pretty close (explanation of how we'll fit into current known game mechanics within):

If name's already taken this can be the Sydney community. Anyone's welcome to join though, this way we can have overseas friends to visit :)
Any feedback welcome
edit: added further information
Sorry, maybe bad sentence structure on my part.
As far as we know, we CAN get Venusaur.
I was referring to the current known teams you can join (Red, Blue, Yellow) and how there is no Green. (the original games had Red = Charizard, Blue = Blastoise, Yellow = Pikachu and Green = Venusaur).
I think the issue having people in one community spread over multiple in-game teams is the community then fractures, there is less "everyone working towards one goal".
Hence my idea of all the green living under the sun (red) and showing our presence in-game by using mainly grass pokes for our gym defence.
Once the game comes out we might find other ways to make ourselves known - definitely open to ideas :)
Yeah blue & red (i.e. water and fire) both have synergies with green (grass).
In terms of Pokémon lore, I think it is a more common theme for grass to draw power from the sun (i.e. solar beam, chlorophyll) than water (water absorb is there for some grass types, but is less prominent than those sunny day loving veggies ;p)
I had originally picked yellow but upon further thought changed to red.
In Pokémon yellow = electric which doesn't have a lot to do with grass. Red = fire = sun so was a better fit (:
Red = fire = sun
Feel free to join up - the more people who do the more of a community we'll grow (:

Yeah I reckon you'll kinda have to join an official team ingame to get the most out of it: my idea is was join Red as Red is fire which gives sun to grass, i.e. Green.
But yeah at the same time we're out own team - might have to wait till the game comes out to figure how we'll distinguish this, one idea I had was we use mainly grass type Pokémon in situations where you say set up defences on a gym (i.e. scenarios where you have "team presence").
Definitely open to feedback and discussion on this (:
