I wished there was a Pokémon game that was essentially Stardew Valley but with Pokémon

Idk if this is the right subreddit for something like this considering what I usually see here.

Plus I doubt this hasn’t been thought about before but I’ve been wishing for Pokémon to change up the formula for awhile. Scarlet and Violet is looking to do that it seems. Not the way I’m imagining though.

For awhile now I’ve been imagining how lovely it’d be to create something. Take care of something. But do it all alongside Pokémon and living with them.

What I’ve been imagining is very close to what Stardew Valley is like but with so much more.

SV you are set to build a farm but what if you could create a Pokémon ranch. Or a Pokémon Safari. Or something much like the island where Pokémon went on vacation in that Pokémon movie “Pikachu’s vacation”. Surely some of you remember that movie. To be able to create a little Pokémon paradise for different sorts of Pokémon would be so neat.

I have actually been thinking about this for a good long while and thought about game mechanics. How the story would play out. How to incorporate Pokémon in the tasks.

Imagine that you planted necessary berries/veggies that allowed you to do a number of things. If you were wondering how you’d even “catch” Pokémon in this game there’d be no poke balls as that feels reserved for trainers. To start you need to attract them. A mechanic that I recall in Pokémon Shadow XD is you placed bait in different biomes and attract Pokémon. Go back and see if you attracted any Pokémon.

What if you were able to set traps for Pokémon, different traps worked better on different kinds of Pokémon you were trying to get. Different baits worked on attracting certain types. Different biomes to set them at. From there a mini game to gain that Pokémon trust.(a mini game Ive yet to figure what it’d be like but the goal is to gain trust)

There being different biomes you can maintain even benefitting from not just having the respective types a place to reside but being able to use those biomes for certain things like Pines in an ice biome for sap. Or a small lava area for coal. Abandon buildings for Ghost Pokémon to reside in that drops random useful items that you will not question how they keep showing up there.

Different Pokémon could be caught to help with your day to day tasks. Like water Pokémon for watering plants. Leveling them up the more they do so. Grass/Bug or Flying types for harvesting. Different types may be able to do more than just one kind of task. Like Flying or water types helping with fishing.

Rock/ Ground and Steel helping out with mining trips. Or even fighting types.

Fire/ Ghost/ Psychic types helping in the kitchen. Fire for cooking and the other two for moving dishes and pots around.

Electric doing the obvious by helping you power some of your more advanced things that you gain access to later as you progress.

Have ghost or dark types to protect your crops at night from wild Pokémon from stealing them.

It doesn’t even have to stop by just using types dedicated for certain tasks. Some bugs and steel can cut trees. Psychic types can help fish or move rocks in mines.

Further by using certain Pokémon because they unlock specific things like combees for honey.

Fairy types helping with other things. For example, you actually be able to act as a Daycare for trainers and helping them breed their Pokémon and Fairy types being nurturing Pokémon to help facilitate that. Trainers actually coming to you help level their Pokémon and you can perhaps assign Pokémon with their respective types. Like a dark type to train a dark typed Pokémon.

Maybe you can provide other services to trainers like having your Pokémon being Move Tutors. Becoming Move Tutors of a list of moves they can use and learn in the main games. Like for example, say you have an Absol. you could have it teach Night Slash because it can learn it via level up or the TM-Will-O-Wisp. It’s just up to you. Maybe there are rotating popular moves that you pay attention to and it’s in your best interest to do so because having your Pokémon do some of these things gives you rewards or money to use.

There is so much potential especially when you think about how one could incorporate the main game’s mechanics into the game. Giving every type of Pokémon something to do. Having your favorites roaming in your home.

And to top it off perhaps you could do some things to attract the legendary Pokémon which if you manage can get you special things/abilities/buildings/buffs etc something substantial and useful.

As far as the story one perhaps you’re the father/mother of a budding trainer who’s going through on their adventures. Sometimes even they will send you their Pokémon to take care of and level. They going through different Pokémon regions and them catching random Pokémon from said region for you to watch over for them and even train them to be stronger. Even motivated TO train them and leveling them by working on this farm you’ve created and helping your son/daughter to help win gyms possibly.

I really could go on further and maybe even elaborate on what I’ve said so far but I think you get the idea.

Im an older fan, 29 now, started with the first games, favorite gen being 3. I just wouldn’t mind chilling with Bulbasaur, playing with Mudkip.
