Took a Break from pokemon and now I'm coming Back

I made a stupid move a while ago to sell all my DS and gameboy games, and my pokemon games went away too. Luckily I still have my DS lite (that is in barely alive condition after loaning it to my brother) and i was wondering, when get pokemon black 2 will I be able to connect to my houses password protected wireless router, and if not how does using the Nintendo wifi connect thingy work on a computer that's connected wirelessly to the router?

EDIT: I have played diamond/pearl but not Black/White, will that affect the story or could I just read the description on bulbabpedia to catch up?
