The original regis were really cool - they were made out of materials that people actually use to sculpt. I was kind of hoping the other regis would follow that trend.
Imagine: a ground type regi made from clay, a grass type whittled from wood, a ghost type carved from bone or ivory... heck, the dragon type could’ve been dragonbone and I would have accepted it.
Instead, we have.... “crystallized dragon energy”? What even is that? That’s not something you can carve things out of. It doesn’t fit with the theme of the others— Regigigas using the materials of the earth to fashion golems in its image.
I understand the theory that the regis also represent ages in history, and that Regieleki is supposed to be the modern era. But then couldn’t Regieleki have been made in modern times by humans as an attempt to replicate the original regis? It makes no sense to have the modern-themed electricity regi be around in ancient times and be bound by an old civilization.
Also, again: you can’t make objects out of pure electricity. Regigigas was cool to me because he was an ancient sculptor - an artist. But when compared to a golem made of” literal electricity with more power than any electric type “ or “ crystallized dragon voodoo magic that only is a fraction of its completed form” , how can “golem made of rock” compare?
And yeah, you can argue that registeel was made from a meteorite and that regice’s body is cold as heck, but their fantasy elements don’t take away from their concept of being fashioned from everyday materials.
Am I the only one disappointed here? What do you think? Do you like the new regis? Why or why not?
