Now that the Alola league is upon us, I have some serious concerns for the league. As an ash fan I want to see Ash win the league, of course, the question is how is he going to do it?
I don't think there's any debate whether he's going to make it to the finals (and that's because I believe this is our season to win). Who does he have to beat along the way to get there and how is the league going to be set up?
Setup-- the first couple of rounds will be single battles. The sun and moon anime had a lot of double battles. The semi-finals and finals most likely will be 3 on 3 but we should prepare for full battles. I say this because nobody owns six Pokemon in the anime right now. The only people who have the potential to is Ash Gladion and Hau. If a full battle happens Ash 6th Pokemon will be poipole. It is very unlikely Ash will use any Pokemon from oak lab or Greninja coming back. Also we know gladion has four Pokemon and Lily has two. If gladion needs six it's possible Lily can give gladion her two to use after she's been eliminated.
Ash's Team-- a big criticism of Ash's team right now is he doesn't have a "powerhouse". I would argue his team is looking as just good a shape as it did in x & y. Rowlett when he is awake is always on his a game, lycanroc is arguably his fastest and strongest Pokemon and it hits hard, torracat has an unimaginable potential, meltan if it evolves most likely will be that powerhouse; however I don't think meltan needs to evolve for ash to win the league. Meltan works really well in a double battle setting being able to ride rowlett lycanroc and torracat.
The Pokemon I am concerned for our torracat meltan and poipole. The sun and moon anime had a lack of Pokemon battles in general. so the only real battle experience his team has are from the trials. The only Pokemon that battled in the grand trials our Pikachu rowlett and lycanroc. It's insane to think about but torracat hasn't had a real battle yet. I believe torracat is a very good battler but we just don't have the experience to show for it. Meltan had a battle and I believe going off of my memory that one battle was more than torracat. Meltan also doesn't have as much experience but it did show to have good battle instincts. Also thanks to the amount of z crystals Ash has obtained, the steelium z can be used for meltan. If people does make a return I don't see how it can benefit Ash and be helpful unless it involves. the only Pokemon that has the chance of returning is poipole.
The league-- Ash is probably going to end up fighting kiawe in a one-v-one and guzma in a three on three. I want the semi-finals and the finals to be full battles. That would mean Ash versus Hau and a full battle for the semi-finals and then Gladion in the finals. Hau will give Ash a run for his money but after eliminating kaiwe maybe kiawa will lend him the flyium z for rowlet to defeat decidueye. I have no idea how ash will be Gladding but I believe it will happen.
Please using any information from the anime do you agree or disagree with my league predictions? Ash's only competition is Hau and Gladion. And I think what's ass because torracat has to battle the masked Royal. Like a Cubs fan I will be rooting for ash all the way to the finals.
