In a timeline where Mega evolutions weren't on final evolutions but instead on middle stage evolutions which pokemon and types would you like to see?

I feel this would have helped with power creep by giving the middle stages an alternate evolution (even if only during battle). And help slightly with pokemon diversity by giving middle evos another reason besides eviolite to stay unevolved.

The middle evolutions would get a stat total equal to their final stage but can be distributed differently.

I've always like Charmeleon more than Charizard and would have loved a Fire/Dark or Fire/Steel (since in Gen 3 Charmander got metal claw on level up) Mega Evolutions for it. No wings and exploring more of the spikes it has and going to quadrupedal.

I do like Dragonite but having a Mega Dragonair that follows the more serpent theme of Dratini and Dragonair would have been nice too. I'd like to think Dragon/Water would suit it since it lives at the bottom of lakes. To make it not look as much like a blue Milotic I imagine it would be about 1/3 longer than regular, have it's horn become more unicorn like, additional angelic wings on its back, and short fangs.
