Here in spring the buds begin pale and cool,
The celestial light that turns whiter and clear
The harsh wind tries to blow away warmth, finally grey clouds chase away the thought.
A new day dawns that's earlier somehow,
Breaking out in pink on every bow,
Diamonds hang on each dark brown twig, the weight of watery tears, so big
The hollow wind that howled at me
the sting is blunt and loosing its grip.
I carry no hat, nor scarf today, nor the lead; it's put away.
My heart is lighter, but my step's no bounce
Jack has that frosted touch, but left no marks, So now the sun can warm these parks,
My faithful dog his eyes so clear, he's misty now through cloudy tear
All the walks together, this lane, that path, through all that weather!
His little bounce was in my step, His wagging tail was never still.
I watch, the loyal petals cling, stronger than they look.
Though just like him, they will soon grow old and weak.
But I love the spring! because it's new and fresh and real and all aglow
It reminds us life is brief and quick,
Soon passing over to warmer days, of heated dry summers haze
And spring is ever there within love, sometimes lost, like the now bare buds.
The petals blown and gone to dust, be glad it's gone, for go it must.
:)
