I've just recently gotten into poetry, and this is the first one I've ever written. Definitely influences from Spanish poets like Machado and Lorca, I think.
Universe, are you to bleed the water dry?
One cannot voyage without an ocean.
And if once rich was the river’s motion,
why drain the beauty, on which I rely?
Tell me, do you revel in my chagrin?
One who cannot drink is destined to die.
And if others’ springs are ample in supply,
why is it mine that's deprived of your potion?
“My child, there is no voyage without pain.
Even the greenest meadows endure drought,
but even the driest droughts end in rain.
Look upon your sand dune, and see desert flowers sprout.
Although their thorns prick and wound, inside, their waters spout.”
