Sync no longer reliable (once again) after server update

This has happened twice in 2 days.
I play most of a podcast in Windows app before pausing.
I Open iOS app sometime later and wait for sync to then find the player showing progress of same podcast nearly an hour behind Windows app.
iOS In Progress filter shows correct progress - same as Windows app.
I press play on same podcast from In Progress filter.
Playback resumes stale progress from player and In Progress updates to this stale progress.
This was fixed after last iOS update and now isn't.
