Failed PMP - Looking for Advice on the Disconnect

Post Body

Hey everyone,

I just took the PMP exam and unfortunately didnā€™t pass. This time I spent about 2 months studying and used several popular resources like Th3rdRocks notes, Andrew Ramadayalā€™s mindset videos, and PMI Study Hall Essentials. I was Target in Business Environment, but Below Target in both People and Process.

Iā€™m trying to figure out where the disconnect might be, because I feel like I understand the concepts well. I did decently in Study Hall (mostly between 60-80ish%), but I think my challenge is with exam strategy rather than content.

For instance, I had a question about logging something in the risk register, but the word ā€œissueā€ was used in the answer I picked, which threw me off. The scenario was about something that might happen in the future, so it was clearly a risk. However, the use of the word ā€œissueā€ made it tricky, since in PMP terms, an ā€œissueā€ refers to something that has already happened, while a ā€œriskā€ is something that might happen. The wording made me second-guess myself.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Iā€™m looking for any advice on how to better approach the People and Process sections, or tips to improve my exam strategy. I have 21 days until my next attempt so Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance! :

Update: T/AT/AT šŸ˜Ž After three attempts, I finally made it! I was starting to wonder if I had the mental acuity to pass šŸ˜…, but I stayed persistent, kept studying, and it paid off in the end. Drinks are on me tonight!

Thank you to everyone in this community for the support and encouragement along the way.

Hereā€™s what helped me:

1. Andrew Ramadalā€™s ā€œMindsetā€ ā€“ absolutely invaluable.
2. Th3dRocks study notes ā€“ excellent resource.
3. David McLaughlinā€™s techniques ā€“ his elimination strategies were vital to my success.
4. Ben Hamouda Consultingā€™s ā€œPMP Tips and Tricksā€ ā€“ clarified some of the concepts I was shaky on

Ben Hamouda study material: https://drive.google.com/file/u/0/d/1Sl7lFVVg_yT2xK1B0YOLG0OBEE6AxLON/edit?pli=1

These combined are all I needed to make it. I highly recommend.

Thanks everyonešŸ˜Š
