Hi everyone! I have this Lion King plushie that I have been trying to ID. It's a small beanbag plush, and it looks to me like it's from the 90's but I'm not sure. What's strange about it is that I haven't been able to find it anywhere. It looks a lot like Simba, but it's not like any other Simba I have ever seen. It's a darker gold than Simba, with a hair tuft in the middle of his head which is not typical for 90's Simba beanbag plush toys. And it's definitely not Kovu either. I have pictures of the plush next to a vintage Simba beanbag plush and a vintage Kovu beanbag plush for comparison, as well as some other pictures of him here:
I would swear that he is Kopa, the original cub that was at the end of the Lion King movie. He looks so much like the illustrations of Kopa. But that's impossible, right? Did they ever make any merchandise of Kopa?
He has a weird cloth tag too... like, maybe he's Canadian? But I haven't been able to find a Canadian Disney tag like this one. Unfortunately what makes it harder to ID him is his cloth tag is pretty faded. But I will type out and describe it for you:
He has a smaller tag in the front of the larger tag that just says "© Disney"
The larger cloth tag is the one that I believe is Canadian-- it has the front in English and the back is in French. I don't know much French so I will just type out the English for you with the original line breaks:
"Not to be removed until
delivered to the consumer
This label is affixed in
compliance with The
Upholstered and Stuffed
Articles Act
This article contains
NEW MATERIALS ONLY
Made by Ont. Reg. No.

CONTENT"
These are the only tags he has. If anyone can help ID him, even by checking your Disney plushies and seeing if they have a similar tag like this would help me to at least know that he is something official and not some sort of weird bootleg. Because truly, I have looked and looked and looked and I have never seen one like this. It's driving me nuts. Please help?
