Help with controller not connecting need help

Hi, got a ps4 preowned, tried connecting the controller it doesn’t work. I brought the charge and sync cable and it doesn’t work, just keeps flashing and going orange and then cuts off. I can’t boot into safe mode as it has the power button fault. Any ideas? Thankyou
I’m stuck on the screen that is asking me to insert the cord into controller and press the power button if that helps
