Ps5 mic issue -

I've tried two separate headsets this week, both wired and plugged straight into my ps5 controller.
The audio output through the headphones is great, but when I try to use the mic my friends say there is an overwhelming noise. When I check my mic input levels it's just constantly at max as though they are both picking up every that's happening externally.
I can't seem to find a way to fix this.
Any suggestions?
