I know the entire loot system is basically being redone and the current xp system is being thrown out for a component system. I'm just concerned about the gathering system/stacking being even more cluttered then it already is in the current vanilla version.
In legacy you just had stone wood metal and sulfur for resources, and it would take a MASSIVE amount of nodes to fill up the slot, but in the current version of rust 2 nodes and you potentially have 4 slots of inventory space already filled. I don't remember legacy 100% but i can tell you right now my inventory space never felt cluttered, and if it did I just had too much rad town food.
You could stack medkits in sets of 5 rather than 1 or 2, and low grade was literally only used for explosives and meds, but in new rust i'm always rationing my low grade for my quarry and epipens. I have literally never used a large medkit because they clutter inventory space and they are REALLY EXPENSIVE.
I personally think there should be a return of small medkits that you can apply and bandage yourself along with the press of a button, also the complete removal of animations from using medical supplies.(bring back them satisfying sounds) Also meat should have stacking of 250 along with bullets and resources.
With meat you could potentially reduce clutter and only have one type of meat like legacy, and have it change icons depending on the ratio of animals in the mix of meat. An inventory ratio system already exists and i'd imagine it being fairly easy to implement. Stone bricks/wood planks/high qual metal could be implemented to function like legacy while maintaining the amazing building system in new rust and also keep the inventory clutter to a minimum. Please for the love of god don't make the component system clutter the already cluttered inventory system. Bring back research kits and blueprints that spawn in rad towns, the old blueprint fragment system was atrocious, grindy, and annoying just like the new xp system.
Bring back stuff to keep noobs out of robbing rad towns 24/7 like radiation and some form of hostile rad animal that drops loot(oh heck i'd love zombies but it's kinda overused). I love a lot of things about new rust but i force myself to play nonvanilla 2x instacraft modded stacking servers to get the best experience out of it, this inventory clutter needs to be solved and gathering needs to be bumped. It would reduce zerging and make it super balanced like legacy was in my mind. go back to 1 5 250
