Ark insists on switching to a controller on Win10 PC

Problem is - I do not have a controller connected!!!!!!
Once this happens I cannot "buy" Engrams, I cannot upload character either.
In game I press ESC and click on deactivate controller, it immediately reactivates itself.
Search Google, no real answers except unplug your controller!
Anyone else having this?
