Help with Desert Rose cuttings. Will their trunks fatten in time or will they be forever thin since they were not grown from seed?

Early this year I trimmed some long shoots from the fatty desert rose plant. Threw the cuttings into soil and they are growing great but with their trunks ever fatten? If not, how to you care for them?
